SCBI offers a quarterly publication called Bioethics Research Notes (BRN). We invite professional bioethicists and people in related professions who have expertise in bioethics, to write on topics such as abortion, euthanasia, reproductive technology and many other relevant topics in bioethics.
The BRN is distributed nation-wide and overseas, to a readership that includes academic researchers, medical professionals, legal professionals, politicians, students, and various research institutes and libraries. Each edition contains up to 6 articles, which includes opinion pieces, book reviews and student essays. We encourage you to take the opportunity to subscribe to our BRN and stay informed on the latest issues in bioethics. Please click here for your free sample issue
The legislation governing research on embryos as well as embryo cloning is currently being reviewed by the relevant Act. Over two hundred public submissions have been made. The question of payment for human eggs and the creation of human/animal hybrid embryos were two of the more controversial issues being addressed. The director of SCBI appeared before the committee.
